| Remarks | Bought at a jumble-market in 2006. Some say that Atlas was condemned by Zeus for his rebellion to bear the heavens on his shoulders, others that he had to carry the world on his shoulders as on the Atlas globe one can buy in the Library of Congress shop. The previous owner must have followed the first idea as stars and a laughing moon are painted on top of the globes. |
